Ongoing Water System Support for Lifeways Group

Summary

The Lifeways Group is a specialist organisation that delivers high-quality care for adults with diverse and complex needs in communities across the UK. 

The organisation has been in operation since 1995 and has become the UK’s largest supported living specialist, proudly assisting almost 5,000 people to lead independent, fulfilling lives. 

Challenge

The Lifeways Group approached H2O Hygiene for advice and support with managing their portfolio of around 80 care homes, the group wanted to gain a full understanding of their services and condition of their assets with a specific request for identifying the location and serviceability of site thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs). Following the initial discussions The Lifeways Group requested ongoing support from H2O Hygiene for their homes.

A large aspect of the work was identifying the locations and access to thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs). The valves needed to be accessible for future servicing and replacement, whilst behind an access panel with the relevant precautions to ensure safety was maintained.

Members of the Lifeways Group team had worked with H2O Hygiene in the past and knew we were a water hygiene supplier they could trust.

The environment of care homes and the unique requirements of vulnerable service users meant that the H2O team would need to be dynamic and considerate when carrying out site visits.

Solution

H2O Hygiene had all the experience and expertise that the Lifeways Group needed to carry out all the necessary remedial and provide ongoing support. 

H2O Hygiene now carries out 1,300 visits across the year for the Lifeways Group’s services, to conduct regular maintenance, such as:

• Legionella risk assessments
• TMV installation and management
• Remedial work, including repairing dead legs and replacing water tanks
• Checks for anti-ligature showers and taps
