What is Legionella?
Legionella pneumophila bacteria are naturally found in water sources such as rivers, lakes and reservoirs. However, in nature the bacteria rarely enjoys the required conditions to multiply and cause harm.
H2O identify risks or issues with water systems through thorough risk assessments. Once complete, we then suggest a tailored action plan based on our findings, designed to resolve any immediate issues, prevent any future problems and ensure that your organisation remains compliant.
Unfortunately, man-made structures such as water systems, cooling towers, spa pools, etc., often provide the perfect breeding ground for this particular bacterium, which causes diseases known as Legionellosis (Legionnaires’ disease being the most serious).
At H2O Hygiene, we work tirelessly to ensure that our clients’ water systems remain free of dangerous bacteria. By drawing on our extensive experience, you can rest assured that:
Your journey to being compliant starts with a legionella risk assessment!
One of our specialist water quality testers will visit you at your site ready to conduct your legionella risk assessment. We’ll talk you through everything you need to know about preventing Legionnaires’ disease and will carefully assess your systems one by one.
Our qualified legionella risk assessors comb through your entire system and outline the current condition of all water systems, ready to determine whether your system is compliant in line with guidance and legislation.
This is achieved by tracing pipework from the water entry point in your building to all outlets, allowing us to create a detailed schematic that will be provided to you as part of your risk assessment report.
Once the temperatures are recorded, we’ll conduct a thorough physical check of all of your assets, determining the risk rating of your system based on its condition and operational functionality.
This data will be compiled into an asset list to accompany your system schematic.
Within 14 days, we’ll deliver a BS 8580-1:2019 report that will tell you everything you need to know about your water system, and what steps you need to take to ensure legionella compliance. Don’t worry, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
Legionella risk assessments are an ongoing process. We recommend a reassessment when there’s been significant change in your systems or in the way it’s managed.
